In the last episode, Carol had organised the secret Santa gift exchange programme to bring some Christmas cheer. Tandy was supposed to be Erica's secret Santa, but he traded it with Phil, to let him regain Erica's trust. But Phil turns down his gift and says that he has something special planned for Erica.

On Christmas Day, when everyone was busy exchanging gifts, Phil surprised Erica by gifting her an ultrasound scan of their unborn baby. Meanwhile, Melissa proposed to Todd after she sensed that Todd and Gail were getting closer. But before Todd could answer, Phil collapses.

Elsewhere in space, Jason Sudeikis character Mike Miller decided to commit suicide by opening the airlock and release himself into space after his last worm dies. At the last moment, he sees a newborn worm and tries to abort the opening of the airlock. But in a surprising turn of events the abort button fails and he is launched into space.

Warning: Potential spoilers ahead.

Now, the latest promo for the episode shows Phil tossing and turning in pain as the entire group sits beside him. Erica tells Gail, "Phil is going to die, if we don't do something." Then, the voice-over declares, "You won't believe how it ends."

The video also shows Todd admitting to Tandy that he is "having sex with Gail." The promo ends with the scene where Mike Miller is launched into space.

Another preview for the episode shows the group trying to determine Phil's illness. Gail reads a book and claims, "It says here it could be appendicitis, but it could be just gas." Phil, who is in terrible pain mumbles, "It isn't gas."

While the whole gang pressures Gail into finding a solution, she shoots back by saying, "I am not a freaking doctor. I am just a chef from a three store restaurant in Wellington North Calrolina." She then asks everyone to shut up.

In another preview, Gail is convinced that Phil is suffering from some sort of midsection malady, and asks to ask Phil Tandy (Will Forte) and Todd (Mel Rodriguez) to find a corpse on whom she can practice her surgical techniques to help save Phil's life.
