Liverpool have confirmed a double deal after defenders Kolo Toure and Andre Wisdom signed new contracts with the club on 26 May.

The former has signed a one-year extension to his current deal, while the latter has agreed a long-term deal with the Merseyside club.

"Liverpool FC are pleased to announce Kolo Toure has signed an extension to his contract with the club," a statement on the Reds' official site.

The former Arsenal defender was signed by Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City and he has gone on to make 48 appearances in his two seasons at Anfield.

The Ivorian was delighted at extending his deal after initially revealing that he was unsure of his future at Liverpool.

"It's fantastic news and I couldn't ask for more. For me, to be able to play for one of the best clubs in the world for longer means a lot to me, so I feel really happy to extend my career at this fantastic club," Toure told Liverpool's official site.

"Everything is great for me with the other players, the manager, the club and the fans and I love it here."

"I am one of the most experienced players in the squad and I have to play that role because we have so many young players," the Ivorian added.

Wisdom, on the other hand, has signed a new long-term contract following a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion this season, with reports suggesting that Brendan Rodgers is set to give the youngster an extended run as the first-choice right back in the team next season.

"Andre Wisdom has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool, the club are pleased to announce," Liverpool's official site stated.
