Antoine Griezmann

Liverpool are considering a move in signing Arsenal winger target Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window, according to the Metro.

The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the Real Sociedad star and the north London club have long been interested in securing a deal for the attacker.

The La Liga club have held discussion with Arsenal over their star player's potential transfer. However, no deal has been agreed yet.

Griezmann's contract at Sociedad runs down in 2016 and he has recently rejected a chance to sign a new deal. Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on securing a deal and his situation with the Spanish outfit has alerted both the Premier League clubs.

The Merseyside club are returning to the Champions League after few years of absence and the Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on Griezmann in the process of strengthening the squad for the next season.

The 23-year-old attacker had an impressive season with Sociedad and his club form saw him cement a place in the national squad for the ongoing World Cup. Although France were knocked out by Germany in the quarter final, Griezmann's brilliant display has attracted interest from the top clubs in Europe.

The former Swansea boss is looking to add young legs to his squad and Rodgers remains hopeful to lure Griezmann as he wants to make a £20m bid to beat Arsenal and other European giants, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco in signing him.

Meanwhile, Griezmann's club teammate Mikel Gonzalez has refused to comment on the winger's future at the club, but suggested the French attacker is still a Sociedad player.

"Antoine is over the world, is on vacation and still is the Real Player, apart from there ... I cannot say more," Gonzalez was quoted as saying by AS.
