Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool are planning a bid for Reading youngster Jordan Obita in the summer, according to the Mirror.

The left-back has been in brilliant form for the Royals and Brendan Rodgers is looking to shore up his left side of defence, with Luis Enrique struggling to stay fit.

The 20-year-old has won some rave reviews and will provide Rodgers with a long term option, something which the manager has been working on throughout his squad.

The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan, Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson are yet to hit their peak and given their age are all top prospects to lead Liverpool to glory for years to come.

Liverpool are light in that region with Aly Cissokho i currently deputizing for the Spaniard in that position this season. The Reds are currently genine challengers for the title and have all but sealed a top four spot this season and will move back into the Champions League after a five year drought.

Rodgers praised the team after their brilliant performance at Old Trafford where they beat Manchester United 3-0 in what was a very one sided affair in the home of the Champions.

Steven Gerrard scored twice from the spot while Luis Suarez made it three for the Merseyside club after Nemanja Vidic had been sent off after receiving a second yellow.

"It's obviously a big win over a huge rival - two of the biggest British clubs that are renowned worldwide. To dominate the game like that was very pleasing," Rodgers said after the game.

"I thought we could have had more goals, I thought we were really aggressive in our game going forward and with a better final touch or final ball we might have got in a bit better and finished them off even more so.

"We attack with great intent and we defend as well. We will just focus on our next game. I can only look at our next game. I've done that since I walked in the door," he concluded.
