A man is due to appear in court in northwest London today, accused of murdering a community safety campaigner on Thursday by stabbing her.

Alison Morrison, 45, was attacked on Alexandra Avenue in Harrow, near her home, at 7.45am on Thursday. She died of her injuries in hospital.

Trevor Gibbon, 48, will appear before magistrates in Hendon on Saturday charged with her murder

Morrison was vice-chair of the area's Safer Neighbourhood Board.

David Perry, leader of Harrow Council, said: "Alison Morrison was passionately committed to creating a safer Harrow… and it is terrible news that she had lost her life in this violent way in a borough she cared about so much.

"Alison's colleagues on the Safer Neighbourhood Board are absolute shattered by this news, as are the staff of Harrow Council."
