Manchester United have suffered yet another injury blow after the club confirmed that record signing Angel di Maria is set to miss the midweek clash against Stoke City.

The Argentine winger who started in United 3-0 win over Hull City on Saturday was substituted early in the first-half with what looked like a hamstring injury.

"Angel shall be out for Stoke, I think," Van Gaal said, as quoted on United's official site.

This injury is the latest in a long list of injuries suffered by the Old Trafford club this season, Louis van Gaal already has seen a number of his players suffer injuries this season, prior to the Argentine, England defender Luke Shaw was ruled out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury.

Apart from Di Maria, Wayne Rooney also limped off the field at the end of the game, but the manager has confirmed that the striker should be fit to face Stoke on Wednesday at Old Trafford.

"Wayne, I don't know. He said he would be fit for Stoke. I hope he is, because he is in great form," the Dutch manager added.

However, United did have some good news at the weekend, as defender Marcos Rojo and striker Radamel Falcao returned against the tigers. Defender Rafael da Silva has also revealed that he is ready to return to first-team training and this should give the manager a big boost ahead of some crucial matches in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, midfielder Michael Carrick, who played a key role in United's 3-0 win over Hull hopes they can carry on the form into Tuesday's home clash against Stoke.

"It was a good performance and a good win. We controlled the game from the start and played some really good football. Hopefully they'll be more of the same on Tuesday," Carrick told United's official site.
