Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell is reportedly set to go out on loan before the end of the ongoing January transfer window.

According to Goal, the England U21 midfielder, who was called back by United midway through his season long loan deal with Leicester City due to the club's unhappiness regarding his playing time, is set to be loaned out yet again, with a host of Championship clubs interested in signing him.

Powell, who joined the Red Devils in 2012, spent the last season on loan at Wigan Athletic and this season the midfielder was hoping to get valuable Premier League experience following his arrival at the King Power Stadium in September.

But the former Crewe Alexandra midfielder failed to impress the Foxes manager and only managed three substitute appearances until December, which led to his loan deal being terminated. Reports suggested that Nigel Pearson was unimpressed with the lack of commitment shown by the youngster.

He has since returned to Old Trafford and the report claims that, Louis van Gaal has assessed the midfielder and is now ready to send him out on yet another loan for the remainder of the season.

It is believed that promotion contenders Derby County and Watford are leading the chase to land the 20-year-old midfielder.

Apart from them, Wigan are also said to be interested in taking the midfielder back to the DW Stadium, where he spent the entire 2013/14 campaign.

Powell, who is back training with the reserves at the club's Carrington training base, recently featured in United's 2-1 win over Liverpool in the U21 Premier League.

The midfielder started the game and completed the full 90 minutes against their arch rivals. He also scored a goal and was involved in the second, which led United to victory.
