Manchester United are preparing a £55m bid for Southampton duo Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils are already in an advanced stage with regards to Shaw and the transfers won't be affected by the departure of David Moyes, who had initiated the process.

The left-back is being vehemently pursued by Chelsea who may yet make a move in the summer as they have in the past in case of Willian and Mohamed Salah, thus scuppering Tottenham and Liverpool's hopes respectively in the process.

They are also preparing a £25m bid for Lallana, who has been in brilliant form this season, scoring and creating goals for fun this season. His performance has earned him a call-up to the senior squad under Roy Hodgson and is likely to make the journey to Brazil in June.

United are trying their best to complete a deal for the players before the World Cup and not repeat last summer's fiasco when they pursued the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Ander Herrera and Gareth Bale among others but only landed up with Marouane Fellaini on deadline day.

Shaw will take over from the departing Patrice Evra while Lallana, who has scored nine and assisted six this season, is likely to replace one of the front men.

Meanwhile, Ryan Giggs has taken over the United team after Moyes' departure as the Welshman looks to bring United back to the pedestal they once occupied in the league. The defending Champions are struggling in seventh position, without any hope of securing a Champion League spot and currently six points behind Tottenham Hotspur, with a game in hand.

United have been linked with a number of managers to take over from Giggs once the season ends, with Louis Van Gaal currently on top of United's list of managerial appointments. The former Ajax manager is currently in charge of the Dutch national team and is likely to take over from Giggs after the World Cup.
