Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov could make a return to German side Bayer Leverkusen, according to Sky Sports, with Bayern Munich and Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala also reportedly interested in the Bulgarian.

With Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and now Danny Welbeck all preferred to the 30-year-old, he is reportedly looking to move elsewhere with his contract at Old Trafford set to expire by the end of the season.

Talk of United offering him a new contract has so far not progressed and Sky Sports have now linked him with a return to Leverkusen, from where he moved to Tottenham in 2006 before making the £30.75 million switch to Man United.

The report claims that the striker was spotted taking a flight to Frankfurt where discussions with Leverkusen are expected to be held.

Apart from Leverkusen, German giants Bayern Munich are also linked with Berbatov, as he is understood to be their replacement for Croatian Ivica Olic, who is expected to move on in the summer.

Rich Russian side Anzhi are also believed to be interested in the former-Tottenham man.
