Jose Mourinho has started trimming his Manchester United squad after initially focusing on landing his preferred targets before the start of pre-season. Guillermo Varela, Tyler Blackett and Will Keane are all expected to leave the club this summer as the Portuguese tactician looks to overhaul the squad for the new season.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Red Devils will listen to offers for Blackett and Keane this summer with the duo unlikely to be involved with the first-team in the upcoming campaign. The former spent last season on loan at Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and made just eight appearances in all competitions, while the latter spent the first-half of the season on loan with Preston North End. He was called back by former manager Louis van Gaal in the second-half of the season. However, he was rarely used and made just two appearances in the first-team.

Keane was prolific with United's U21 squad in the second-half of the campaign and scored 10 goals in eight appearances to help the reserve side retain their U21 Premier League title. However, that will not be enough to stake claim for a first-team spot with summer arrival Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial ahead of him in the pecking order. The England U21 international was named in the pre-season squad that travelled to China on Tuesday (19 July), but the club are reportedly welcoming offers for the striker.

Blackett, on the other hand, has not been named in the team and is free to find a new club with a number of players ahead of him in the pecking order. The young defender, who made his Red Devils debut during Van Gaal's first season at Old Trafford, does not feature in Mourinho's plans and will join fellow defender Guillermo Varela out of Old Trafford.

According to ESPN, the Uruguayan defender has agreed a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt with a view to a permanent transfer next summer. The Portuguese manager has not involved Varela in training and he was also unused in their first pre-season game against Wigan Athletic.

The 23-year-old, who joined United in 2013, made his first-team debut last season following injuries to Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia. But with the duo now back to full fitness and Timothy Fosu-Mensah edging past him in the pecking order, he is unlikely to be involved with Mourinho's squad in the upcoming season.
