A manhunt is underway after a British holidaymaker died following a fight outside a bar in Costa del Sol.

The unnamed victim is understood to have died after falling to the ground and hitting the back of his head in an altercation outside Entrehoras bar located in the popular resort of Fuengirola.

The incident happened around 11.30pm on December 8.

The suspect has been described as Germanic-looking and fled the scene before police arrived and is still at large. No other arrests have been made.

Paramedics tried to revive the victim with a defibrillator which proved unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem was due to take place yesterday to establish the cause of his death if it was related to a direct punch or the blow to the back of the head when he fell or if other factors need to be considered.

A spokesman for the Spanish National Police confirmed an investigation into the incident was ongoing.

She said: "Because this matter is still under investigation I cannot comment any further at this stage."

The deceased had attended the bar with a British friend who was also injured but did not need hospital treatment.
