Movie producer Adi Shankar is reportedly considering cutting Mark Salling from his film after the actor was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography. The former Glee actor was arrested after the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force unit served a search warrant on 29 December at the 33-year-old's home in Sunland, California.

After police searched his computer it is alleged they found hundreds of indecent images of children, TMZ reports.

In an interview with The Wrap, filmmaker Adi Shankar, who is currently in post-production with his film Gods and Secrets, said Salling will be recast only if the allegations against him are proven to be true.

"I won't feed our growing pitchfork culture," Shankar told the site. "I'm going to wait for all the facts to arrive and if in fact these allegations are true, I will immediately take action which includes removing his scenes from the project."

His comments came as new photos emerged showing Salling cowering in the backseat of a relative's car as he attempted to hide his face from the glare of cameras on his way home from jail after his earlier arrest.

Police reportedly received a tip-off about Salling from an ex-girlfriend. The 33-year-old actor was freed from Los Angeles Downtown jail on $20,000 bail on Tuesday (29 December). Earlier today, it was revealed that a search of Salling's computer has allegedly yielded pornographic images depicting "disturbing" images of children under the age of 10 allegedly engaging in sexual activities.

TMZ reported that authorities said they found more than a thousand images depicting children in sexual situations. Lt. Andrea Grossman, of the LAPD, described some of the lewd images depicting grade school-aged girls as 'disturbing,' reported the New York Daily News.

Possession of more than 600 images can carry a punishment of up to five years in prison.
