Anger over massive price rises in diesel and cooking gas and retail reforms has led to widespread cross party protests and demonstrations across India.

In the wake of the government 'big bang' initiative that will open the retail sector to foreign investment, and could result in millions, being out of work.

Hundreds of angry protesters disrupted Train services in northern India as activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party blocked the railway tracks. This representative from the Samajwadi party, hoarse from shouting said that Wal Mart should not be allowed to open in India.

While the leader of the opposition party said these latest government announcements are not in the interests of the people and are financially motivated.
