Celebrity photographer Matt Irwin has died. The 36-year-old famed cameramen, who worked with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and, most notably, One Direction, is believed to have passed away suddenly on 6 May. The cause of death is currently unknown.

Directioners have flocked online to offer their condolences, sharing their favourite work from Irwin. The hashtag #RIPMattIrwin trended on Twitter. Although One Direction have yet to comment, Irwin shared a close friendship with the group and Harry Styles in particular, with the pair often calling each other 'Spud'.

One fan wrote: "Rest in peace such great and talented man," while another added: " Matt Irwin, photographer of the boys & Harry's friend passed away. May he rest in peace. Hugs to all his family and friends!"

His photographs appeared in magazines like GQ, i-D and Elle UK and he captured stars including Miley Cyrus, Alexa Chung, and Cara Delevingne.

Irwin's last post was on 3 May, when she shared a link to Kate Bush's Moments Of Pleasure with his 19.3k followers. He expressed his excitement with a simple dancing emoji.
