Moto G spotted running Android 5.1 Lollipop in the wild Damien Junior/Google Plus

Freshly leaked photos of a first-gen Moto G running Android 5.1 Lollipop have surfaced online via Google Plus user Damian Junior, who claims to have received them from a friend working with Motorola.

According to the insider information, the new Android 5.1 update is said to be bugs-free and all high-end Moto G models will get the Android 5.1 update.

Meanwhile, the first-gen Moto X has not yet received any Lollipop update as Motorola has confirmed delays due to the architecture of the chipset on the device. It is largely expected that the Moto X 2013 could directly jump to Android 5.1 Lollipop by skipping Android 5.0 altogether.

It is ascertained that the Moto G model seen in the photos (above) is an XT1033 model with a dual-SIM slot, wherein the new Android 5.1 update will enable users to change the Dialer colour for each SIM in dual-SIM models.

Meanwhile, there is some great news for Nexus owners, as prolific Google Plus leakster, Artem Russakovskii, has just confirmed that the Android 5.1 or Lollipop MR1 update will start rolling out this week for the Nexus devices.

According to the leakster, the new Lollipop update will first hit the Nexus 7 2013 by the end of this week and then followed by other Nexus devices.

Russovskii also adds that the Android 5.1 update is likely to make Android buttery smooth again, while also hinting that the update could be further delayed as Google still seems to be working on the battery life issues that are plaguing Nexus devices.
