Mr Robot
Mr Robot has received critical acclaim for its season-one finale that aired on 2 September 2015 USA

After it was postponed in August 2015, viewers were thrilled to finally watch the season-one finale of critically acclaimed series Mr Robot. The episode has been praised by fans, who are now campaigning for the popular show to receive recognition at the 2016 Emmys. In the 2 September episode, viewers watched as hacker Elliot, played by Rami Malek, successfully took down Evil Corp as he set out to do in the first episode. There was also a twist in the tale, as it was revealed that White Rose was in fact not on Elliot's side and was in cahoots with E-Corp.

The finale episode was initially scheduled to air on 26 August, but was postponed due to similarities between a "graphic scene" and the shootings of two journalists in Virginia on the same day. The sensitive scene in question saw an E-Corp executive shoot himself on live television. Announcing the episode delay in light of the real life tragedy, USA Network, which airs the series, said in a statement, "The previously filmed season finale of Mr Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today's tragic events in Virginia.

"Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight's episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time." Show creator Sam Esmail told Variety that he was completely supportive of the network's decision to postpone the episode, adding, "It's a hard thing to judge and figure out."

Viewers have flooded Twitter with praise for the series, and hope that both the show and lead actor Malek receive nominations at the 2016 Emmys. One fan commented, "Absolutely fantastic. I'm gonna miss #MrRobot. Bravo, @whoismrrobot. Roll on series 2," while another said, "If Rami Malek is not nominated for an Emmy next year, my head will explode #MrRobot." Another Twitter user also said of the episode: "#MrRobot season finale was fantastic, one of the best first seasons of a show I've ever seen. I can't wait for season 2."

Addressing the incredibly positive reaction the series and Malek's talent in portraying the hacker, Esmail said: "Obviously, the weight of the show was really riding on that performance. I was never worried about throwing anything his way. I knew he was going to be able to make it work."

Mr Robot has already been confirmed for season two and a trailer for the next instalment was released ahead of the finale.
