Galaxy S6 users are in for some great news, as Samsung has released a new battery bug-fix update with build number G920FXXU3COI9. It brings a bunch of battery optimisation features in a small 78MB package for the flagship smartphone.
It is touted that a similar update could soon be rolled out to the Galaxy S6 Edge with build number G925FXXU3COI9. The information is credited to a XDA senior member, johanbiff, who has recently shared a bunch of screenshots on XDA forum, depicting the various features and changelog in French and not English.
Given the strange language, it is not clear what is being included in the changelog depicted in the screenshot (see above). However, the update reportedly improves the Galaxy S6's battery life considerably.
In response to a fan query on the XDA forum, Johanbiff asserts that he used a French firmware with Odin on his Galaxy S6, in order to get faster updates from Samsung. Meanwhile, another XDA senior member, mgfjd, has uploaded a few screenshots (see below) pertaining to the update in English.
A closer look at these screenshots suggests that the update brings battery power optimisation for individual apps along with support for Ultra Power Saving Mode. Besides, the third screenshot depicting the changelog (in English) confirms that the update also includes new and/or enhanced features as well as stability and performance improvements.
Interested Galaxy S6 users can go ahead and download the new firmware manually via SamMobile's firmware download page.
