Pop star Nicole Scherzinger has admitted to undergoing therapy to help her cope with the stress that comes with fame.

The former X Factor judge, who recently opened up about her battle with bulimia, said she sought professional support to keep her on the right track.

"I should speak to her more but it's usually when it's a dire emergency, like 'Oh my gosh, I've got so much on my mind. I need some guidance'," she told the Daily Mirror.

"It's good to get some perspective, get some guidance, and have the weight taken off your shoulders. You feel so much better... and just having somebody to talk to who has no agenda."

Not only does the 36-year-old American songstress have the counsellor, she also finds comfort in her Catholic faith and regularly attends Confession at church.

"For me it has helped. But it is a case of each to their own. With Confession, because of my spiritual relationship with God, it just helps," she said.

"For some people it's meditation, for others prayer, but because I came with my Catholic roots, I feel like it lifts something off of me. It's always good to ask for forgiveness and forgive."

Meanwhile Scherzinger, who has been dating F1 racer Lewis Hamilton on and off since 2007, is considering moving across the Atlantic permanently.

"I would love to live here. Lewis and I have been talking about getting a place together here and have been looking at places to buy," she said.
