A custom Amiibo figure designed to commemorate the life of late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has sold for $1,900 on eBay, with all proceeds going to gaming charity Child's Play. Bidding ended in the early hours of 9 October but the winning bid was placed on 6 October.

A total of 90 bids were placed on the figure, made by custom Amiibo creator GandaKris using the base model of a Mii Amiibo and sold via Amiibo Alerts. If you're interested in seeing some of GandaKris's other custom Amiibos, take a look at his Facebook page.

Child's Play is a non-profit charity dedicated to providing toys and video games to children's hospitals. If you wish to donate to them, you can visit https://childsplaycharity.org/donate.

Satoru Iwata was made president of Nintendo in 2002 and served until his untimely death in July 2015 following a battle with a tumour on his bile duct. He oversaw the development, launch and resounding success of two of Nintendo's most successful products – the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

In September, Nintendo announced that Tatsumi Kimishima would take over as president of Nintendo, at the top of a new corporate structure that also gives Shigeru Miyamoto and Wii hardware designer Genyo Takeda new roles as company fellows, aiding Kimishima.
