A false report claiming that Netflix's popular jail drama Orange is the New Black is being cancelled has left fans fuming in Twitter.

Satire website Empire News published a news stating that Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has cancelled the show as he thought women in jail is a wrong way of portraying women in the society and demanded a male lead instead of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling).

The fake news also quoted Hastings saying, "We regret to inform Netflix members that Orange is the New Black has been permanently cancelled. Also, starting September 1st, 2014, past episodes will no longer be available for streaming on Netflix."

"A woman's place is in the home, in the kitchen, taking care of children. A woman in jail? How does anyone even watch this show in the first place? It's like we took everything bad about OZ, and make this show with the leftovers," Hastings told San Jose Mercury News via Empire News.

The website went on to say that the streaming service company will also remove the first two OITNB seasons from its website.

The fake news spread like wild fire and enraged fans. Meanwhile, Netflix authorities issued a statement saying that Orange is the new Black season 3 is very much in the pipeline and that the company has no aim to remove its last two seasons from its streaming website.
