Claire and Jamie Fraser in Starz's series Outlander Starz

Sam Heughan has announced that filming for Outlander season 3 has begun with a video direct from the show's set. The actor took to social media to post the video, wherein the Battle of Culloden scene is being shot.

The Outlander's official Twitter account posted the video and wrote, "#Outlander Season 3 is officially in the making! Get a first glance at @SamHeughan on set", the actor says in the 20-second video, "Here we are...Day 1 [of] season 3, in a field. It's Culloden, it could only be Outlander".

"There we are, happy season 3 day. Let's go fight," he adds.

Outlander's showrunner Ronald D Moore ‏also followed in Heughan's footsteps and posted a video on Twitter to welcome fans to season 3 of the Starz's time-travel drama. He tweeted, "Outlander Season 3 is underway! Welcome back! Here we are Day 1, back on Outlander and its back to the battle of Culloden."

Season 2 ended with Claire finding out that her husband Jamie survived the battle of Culloden and judging by the set videos, the third season will start off with fans learning how the Scottish soldier survived the British onslaught.

The third season of Outlander will be based on Voyager, the third novel of Diana Gabaldon's best-selling series, which was published in 1993. Previously, the network added Australian actor David Berry to its cast for Outlander season 3. Berry will play the pivotal character of Lord John Grey when the show returns in 2017.

Here's the official character description of Grey by Starz:

He's a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He is boyishly handsome with an upper class rearing — the consummate gentleman. However, a scandal from his past has relegated Lord John to an undesirable position as governor of a desolate prison in Northern Scotland.
