Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline is back on his feet and in high spirits after suffering a minor heart attack while filming weight-loss reality show Excess Baggage in Australia.

The 33-year-old former dancer was rushed to Mt Druitt Hospital, where he was kept in overnight after collapsing while exercising with footballers in Sydney.

Federline, who weighs 16st 7lb (105kg), complained of chest pains and a "roaring pulse" before paramedics were called.

In 2006, he revealed that depression was at the root of his over-eating and that his divorce from Spears was a contributing factor to his depression.

At the beginning of the Excess Baggage series, he told producers that he wanted to take part in the programme to "become fit, healthy and buff once more".

After an ECG and blood test it was discovered that he had suffered a minor cardiac arrest, according to reports.

This is the second time Federline, who has two young sons with Spears, 30, has been taken to hospital while filming the programme. He was previously treated for heat stress after recording a segment in the Western Australian outback.

A spokesman for production company Fremantle Media said Federline had been been released from hospital.

The spokesman told the Herald Sun: "Kevin Federline has been given the all-clear after spending the day in medical care.

"Kevin and producers became concerned with his extreme pulse rate and abnormal heartbeat during a challenge in the programme. The programme medic took the action of calling an ambulance so that a hospital could assess his wellbeing."

Federline will go for a check-up before any further training.
