Following the death of Paul Walker last year the future of Fast & Furious, and more pressingly the half-filmed Fast & Furious 7, was called into question.

Inevitably the series will continue, and production will resume on the seventh film this April ahead of a release next year.

The Hollywood Reporter said Vin Diesel, director James Wan and stars including The Rock, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham and UFC Champion Ronda Rousey will return to finish the film this April.

According to insiders the shoot will last between six and eight weeks and take place in Atlanta, where filming was set to return following the Thanksgiving break, had Walker not tragically died in a car crash.

A scene from the seventh Furious film was included on the sixth film's Blu Ray release. It showed Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson and Paul Walker at the funeral of Sung Kang's character Han, who was killed off at the end of the sixth film.

Details of the revised script are sketchy, but Universal did confirm that existing footage of Paul Walker will be used to give the character a proper send off – which they've decided will be retirement rather than him being killed off.

Fast & Furious 7 is set for release on 10 April 2015.
