The last day of the January transfer window was hijacked by the news that Pep Guardiola would be succeeding Manuel Pellegrini as manager of Manchester City from July.

The Spanish coach, who is regarded as one of the best managers in Europe after winning numerous trophies at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, will be departing Bavaria to take the reigns at the Etihad on an initial three-year deal.

But with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all rumoured to be interested in the 44-year-old's services, why did Guardiola choose the Citizens?
