Overview

World No 5 Nadal, who was pushed to his limits by Dominic Thiem in the third round, eventually won 7-5, 6-3 in a game lasting two hours and three minutes. The eight-time Monte Carlo Masters winner avenged his semi-final loss in Argentina to Thiem but is still not looking in the best of form. In Wawrinka he will be facing an opponent t who is on the top of his game at the moment and will be looking to cause an upset.

The Monte Carlo Masters winner in 2014, Wawrinka has had a good start to 2016 and with two titles to his name already at Chennai and Dubai, is currently in the best form of his life. The Swiss player comes into this game after thrashing Gilles Simon 6-1, 6-2 in the third round, taking just 82 minutes to wrap up the game. The 31-year-old is not to be taken lightly and will know he stands a good chance of beating the Spaniard.
