Roger Federer takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Monte-Carlo Masters at the Court Central in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, on Friday.

Overview

Federer secured his progress into the last eight of the Monte-Carlo Masters after cruising past 47<sup>th ranked Lukas Rosol on Thursday.

The 17-time Grand Slam winner took 58 minutes to win the match, 6-4, 6-1, sending the Czech Republican packing out of the tournament.

The 32-year-old Swiss has not dropped a single set so far and faces Tsonga for the 15th time in his career.

The 29-year-old Frenchman was pitted against Fabio Fognini in the third round. Tsonga lost the first set against the 13<sup>th ranked Italian, 5-7. However, he successfully recovered in the subsequent sets, 6-3, 6-0, to seal his place in the quarterfinals.

The winner of this clash will face the winner between Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and defending champion Novak Djokovic in the semi-final on Saturday.

Federer holds a 10-4 lead against Tsonga in overall meetings.

The pair have clashed six times in Grand Slam events where the Swiss No 2 has a 4-2 lead against the Frenchman.
