Sam smith will perform material from his debut album In The Lonely Hour during his forthcoming tour.

After a stellar 12 months, Brit Award-winning singer Sam Smith has announced his first UK headline tour.

The Stay with Me star is scheduled to play nine dates this autumn in support of his debut album, In The Lonely Hour.

The highly-anticipated album, which will be realeased on 27 May, has already spawned hits including Money On My Mind and Lay Me Down.

"I'm SO happy to announce my 'In The Lonely Hour' UK tour later this year!!" the 21-year-old told fans on his official website.

The news comes just weeks after Smith, who has collaborated with stars such as Nasty Boy and Disclosure, took home the Critics' Choice Award at this years' Brits.

"It's incredible to win. I'm just happy because I've had it for a few weeks and I kept shaking it and the light went out but it's working tonight," he said at the time.

"But just to be here today is amazing. Last year I was in my living room with a Chinese watching it".

His string of concerts kick off at Glasgow's O2 ABC Academy on October, with stops at Manchester's Albert Hall and London's Eventim Apollo.

The tickets will go on sale on 11 April (This Friday).
