A train commuter tried to have sex with an on-board refreshments trolley after his advances were snubbed by female passengers, a court has heard.

Andrew Davidson from Angus, Scotland was on a ScotRail service from Aberdeen to Glasgow when he devoured a cocktail of legal highs and alcohol.

The 25-year-old groped a woman passenger and attempted to kiss a member of staff before turning his attention to the trolley.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that Davidson shouted: "I want to kiss you, I want to f*** you" as he mounted the mobile unit.

"He was rubbing his chest, sticking his tongue out and shouting about what he wanted to do to his boyfriend. He got back to his feet," procurator fiscal depute Jim Eodanable told the court.

"He then approached the unattended trolley and started rubbing himself against the trolley."

Davidson admitted causing fear and alarm and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

He was sentenced to 100 hours' of community payback but was not placed on the sex offenders' register.

Davidson's solicitor, Grant Bruce, said that although his client had no recollection of the incident, he understood that his actions were offensive.

Bruce said: "He was completely intoxicated by alcohol and a legal high. He has now curtailed his social life to a great degree because of this incident.

"It is something that has never happened before and is unlikely to ever happen again."
