Five hill walkers have been found safe and well after a manhunt in the Scottish Cairngorms.

The men, believed to be from Aberdeen, had been missing since Wednesday lunchtime and were feared lost after storms and huirricane winds battered the area.

A major land and air mission was launched by Grampian Police, Tayside Police, Braemar Mountain Rescue Team, a Navy helicopter and search dogs.

A statement on the Grampian police Web site confirmed that the men, who went missing in the Loch Muik are, had been traced by mountain rescue experts to the Glen Doll area.

The men were thought to have been well equipped, experienced walkers.
