Shah Rukh Khan stars in upcoming film Fan YashRaj Films

Fans of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan don't have to wait another year to watch their favourite star back on the big screen. While his last release, Dilwale, is still running to packed houses in theatres, Khan is already gearing up for his next big release, Fan, in April.

The actor, popularly called SRK by his initials, recently spoke about his role in the film which will see him playing a 24-year-old fan of his own reel-life version. "Physically, it was extremely challenging to become 24. The prosthetics took about four hours... The guy is a lookalike of someone who he loves. His story is a lot similar like mine. He follows the star as he feels the star is from Delhi and he can also be like his idol some day. But the story is different... To capture all that was very interesting and schizophrenic. I just hope that I have turned it out just okay," Khan told the Indian news agency PTI.

Khan will also essay the role of the superstar (called Aryan Khanna) in the film and revealed that his take on the big Bollywood star is rather different from his real-life public persona.

"He is actually very quiet, unlike the flamboyance you see in me coming out on my birthday and waving at thousands of people. I don't do the same in that film. We have never shown the star at shooting. We have never shown his flamboyance. That's very different. That itself is very internalised because that's how perhaps I am at home, very normal and regular."

Khan has wrapped up shooting for the movie, which is currently in an extensive post-production phase. Directed by Maneesh Sharma (Band Baaja Baarat), Fan is slated to release on 15 April, 2016.
