A shocking video has been released showing a man under arrest trying to bite off his own fingerprints in order to avoid being identified by police. The surveillance footage, taken from inside a police car in Lee County, Florida, shows 20-year-old Kenzo Roberts being detained in the back of the patrol vehicle on Friday 31 July.

As he is kept in the car, Roberts can be seen frantically chewing at his fingers and rubbing them against the cage in a desperate attempt to remove his fingerprints. However, the ploy wasn't successful as a fingerprint scanner quickly identified Roberts.

Lee County Sheriff's Office says that Roberts was arrested after he was spotted driving a stolen Mercedes with a fraudulent ID. After being pulled over detectives discovered that he also possessed three fraudulent credit cards and a concealed firearm. Roberts had two felony warrants for his arrest in another county for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He has now been charged with three counts of possession of a counterfeit credit card, grand theft auto, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of similitude of a driver's license, driving while license suspended, and false identification given to law enforcement. Border Patrol was also contacted and found that Roberts was in the US illegally.

Lee County Sheriff's Office posted the video on Facebook, where it has been watched over 45,000 times.
