Avatar 2
Jake and Neytiri in Avatar movie 20th Century Fox

There is finally a filming and script update about the upcoming Avatar movie. According to actress Sigourney Weaver, who plays Dr. Grace Augustine in the movie, production on the Avatar 2 is set to begin in the fall.

She told The Hollywood Reporter, "We're starting training, and we're starting — hm, I probably can't say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall." The first part of the movie released in 2009 and fans have been waiting for seven years for the sequel to arrive.

However, Weaver reassured that fan' patience will be rewarded in time.

She told the outlet, "I'm telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I'm not worried about [disappointing fans] at all. Am I worried about how we're going to bring them to life? Yes, because they're so ambitious. They're so worth it. They're well worth waiting for. I'm not worried about that at all. We're trying to get it done as quickly as possible."

Previously, writer and director James Cameron teased that the plot of the second movie will follow Jake and Neytiri's life as a couple. He told Variety. "The storyline in the sequels really follows Jake and Neytiri and their children. It's more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans."

The filmmaker also revealed that movie will revolve around the ethereal magic of the lush habitable moon of a gas giant. He told the outlet, "There's a tendency sometimes to go a little beyond the spiritual mysticism in the movie into actual magic. They can't have any actual magic, because it's not a universe that allows for true magic. But it definitely exists in a kind of a mystical, spiritual realm. The films do, and the show definitely does as well. It was that kind of creative conversation."

Avatar film ended with Jake permanently transformed into his Na'vi avatar as the rest of the earthlings, who attacked the local Na'vi tribes along with the Colonel Miles Quaritch, were sent back to earth.

There is no official release date set for Avatar 2.
