Police in Sweden arrested a group of men in their twenties after a woman in a wheelchair was allegedly gang-raped in a migrant centre after asking to use the toilet.

However the six men were released following the incident on 2 October 2016, which sparked a demonstration involving up to 100 locals gathered outside the centre and pelting it with stones in the town of Visby.

The unnamed woman, in her thirties, is said to have been sharing a taxi with one of the migrants when she requested to use the toilet and he invited her in.

Once inside, she claims she was then raped by five or six men. The nationalities of the suspected men have not been disclosed, reports the Independent.

The woman's lawyer, Staffan Fredriksson, told local paper Aftonbladlet: "She followed him in and had no fears that something would happen. Then the man took advantage of the situation. The abuse started in the toilet."

Fredriksson continued: "Where they came from we don't know. This was going on for a couple of hours. She got paralysed in this situation and was not able to bring herself to resist physically, other than saying no. She is completely broken down."
