A Thailand's Got Talent contestant has sparked outrage after she stripped off and used her bare breasts to paint a canvas on the family talent show.

Duangjai Jansauoni's racy performance drew gasps from the audience and shocked judges when she took off her shirt and bra and covered her chest with paint.

The 23-year-old artist's controversial display prompted government ministers, who described the broadcast as "very shocking", to reprimand the show bosses.

Culture minister Sukumol Khunploem reportedly summoned the producers to explain why the segment was allowed to be broadcast on a show watched by family audiences.

She insisted that nudity on television is not appropriate in Thai society and clashed with the country's traditions and values.

"There must be limits to artistic expression," she said.

Jansauoni from northern Thailand began the audition fully dressed before removing her shirt and unhooking bra and dousing her naked torso with several tins of paint.

As dance music played, she used her body as a paintbrush to fill in the outline, leaving the audience stunned.

Although the two male judges decided the performance was a form of artistic expression, the appalled female judge told her: "I'm not saying this is not good, but it's not appropriate. Within the Thai cultural context, I don't support this."
