Two Buddhist festivals were celebrated in Thailand this weekend. Loi Krathong is marked by floating eleborate candle baskets known as 'krathong' on a river.

Yi Peng is celebrated by launching floating sky lanterns, or 'khom loi' into the air.

In Chiang Mai both festivals are celebrated simultaneously, resulting in lights floating on the water, hanging from trees, and soaring into the sky.
