Roy Hodgson and his England team should be feeling more ashamed and embarrassed of their World Cup performance than ever this morning after watching USA's incredible game against Belgium in the final last 16 game of the World Cup.

USA lost 2-1, with all three goals riffling home in extra time, but will leave the tournament with their heads held high after what many will agree has been the best game of the tournament so far, with some even going as far to call it one of the greatest football matches ever played.

Many of the Americans deserve plaudits for their performances, but it is their goalkeeper, Tim Howard, who shone brightest, giving one of the performances of the tournament and winning Man of the Match, despite being the goalkeeper on the losing side – which is very much a rarity.

It was a performance so good, even Howard's opponents sang his praises with Belgian captain and all round good guy Vincent Kompany saying:
