As Bradley was handed a split decision victory in June 2012 to win the WBO welterweight belt, the boos of spectators echoed around the MGM Grand. The unbeaten American scored 115 to Pacquiao's 113, condemning the Filipino to his first loss since his 2005 defeat to Erik Morales and just the fourth of a career that has spanned nearly 20 years.

18 months later and after a second consecutive defeat – a knock-out at the hands of old foe Juan Manuel Marquez – serious questions were being asked about the 35-year-old's future. His role as a congressman in his homeland has also undermined his prospects, but the Pac-Man has no desire to slow down just yet, with a fifth meeting with Marquez and a long awaited clash with Floyd Mayweather Jnr also part of his plans.

For the unbeaten Bradley, his contentious victory two years ago proved detrimental. In the aftermath, the California-born fighter received death threats. But the 30-year-old bounced back convincingly with wins over WBO light welterweight world champion Ruslan Provodnikov and Pacquiao's conqueror Marquez, leaving him perhaps more confident of ending Pacquiao's time at the top than two years ago.

Bradley has described Saturday's fight as his chance for redemption, the opportunity to address the question mark that hangs over his career with a convincing victory.

What They've Said

Manny Pacquiao: "My motivation is the same now as it was when I started my boxing career. I love the competition and I love to win. When that stops, so does my professional boxing career. But I don't see that happening for a long time.

"Because I am facing Tim Bradley again I am extra motivated for this fight. I may not have won the decision the first time we fought but I know I did not lose that fight. I want the world title he won from me back around my waist. I want to prove I am the better fighter.

"I still have the killer instinct. I am not afraid to use my power and go for the knockout. But I will remember the lesson I learned from my last fight with Marquez. Knockouts need to come naturally, you should not force them. But Freddie [Roach] likes knockouts and I like to make Freddie happy.

Timothy Bradley: "I was able to show my boxing ability against Marquez with two good feet so this will be no different.

"I will be faster than Pacquiao, I will have better defence than Pacquiao, I will be hungrier than Pacquiao.

"I have been in the ring with Pacquiao so I know exactly what to expect. There are a few adjustments that I will make, and with two good feet under me, and at the end of the night I will be victorious again."
