The first-ever orgy for the disabled takes place on 14 August coinciding with the Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

Tickets will cost $20 for the "accessible orgy" and admit able-bodies as well as those with disabilities. The capacity for the evening is 125.

"The Berlin wall of sex for people with disabilities is coming down!" organiser Stella Palikarova, told the Toronto Sun.

"The naysayers are just subconsciously hating the fact that people in wheelchairs are having great sex — better sex than a lot of people are having," she added.

Palikarova, a disability awareness consultant who is in a wheelchair because of spinal muscular atrophy, came up with the idea for 'Deliciously Disabled' when she was working on a paper called Experiences of Dating and Sexuality among Heterosexual Females with Congenital Mobility Disabilities.

She will present her findings in Toronto for the Canadian Sociological Association.

The disability consultant was keen to share her experience of "bumping into barriers" for the disabled everywhere - "in homes, in offices, in stores, in the street... and in sex clubs," she explained.

Together with marketer Fatima Mechtab, they have found a location for the orgy, which also provides an interpreter for the deaf.

"By making this party accessible, we are saying openly that people with disabilities are sexual beings... and not only in more conventional ways. This should not be shocking. It should be celebrated," said Palikarova.

Co-organiser for the orgy, Andrew Morrison-Gurza, who is also a disability awareness consultant and has cerebral palsy, is looking forward to the event: "[A] wheelchair can become just a big sex toy."

The organisers say they had difficulty finding a location for the event, but finally decided on LGTBQ cabaret space, Bad Times Theatre in Toronto.
