Lopez made 48 appearances for the Espanyol first team and prior to that, he played 35 times for Espanyol B. He will provide competition for Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris - the injured number one - and Michel Vorm.

The new Tottenham recruit was at the Spanish club towards the end of Mauricio Pochettino's tenure there. Lopez has also been capped at Under-21 level by Spain and was even named in the senior squad for a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier in 2016.

Tottenham have confirmed Lopez will wear the number 30 shirt at White Hart Lane. His arrival at Tottenham came on the same day the Premier League club opted to loan goalkeeper Luke McGee to Peterborough until January.
