William Gallas believes that Tottenham will be lacking firepower in their next three league games after Emmanuel Adebayor picked up a three match ban for his challenge on Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla.

The red card turned the tide in favour of Arsenal after Adebayor had handed Tottenham an early lead, and Gallas believes that his challenge with have further ramifications as Spurs now have just one available senior striker in Jermain Defoe.

"It's a big loss for us because he has a lot of quality," Gallas told the Evening Standard. "He can keep the ball, he can score, and having him means we can play the long ball or the short ball.

"Against Arsenal it was really difficult to stay in the game because Adebayor was sent off but in other recent matches, like against Manchester City and Chelsea, I think we've missed something. We have to work hard again and try to come back."

Tottenham now find themselves in eighth place, two points behind Arsenal and six points behind surprise package West Brom who are currently flying high in fourth place.

Adebayor's suspension could prove costly as Tottenham face a difficult run of fixtures with a tough home game against an in-form West Ham side, before Liverpool travel to White Hart Lane on the back of seven league games without a defeat.

The Togo international will also miss the away trip to Fulham on December 1 which represents another difficult fixture against a side that has just one point less that Tottenham.

With just five wins in their opening 12 Premier League games, Gallas believes there is a lack of self-belief in the squad, which has not been helped by injuries keeping important players of the side.

"The confidence can be low and we have to work hard in training to try to get it back. The season is long but we know how difficult it can be to qualify for the Champions League. We have some injured players like Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Younes Kaboul and Mousa Dembele who are very important to us but the squad are still good and we are unlucky not to have these players. We have to try to play without them," added the French defender.

"West Ham is our next League game and it will be difficult. We have a target and we have to try to keep working towards it. If we do that, it will come."
