Chelsea travel to London rivals Tottenham on New Year's Day as the Blues look to avenge their 1-1 draw with Southampton last weekend and keep the pressure on Manchester City in the race for the title.

Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 5:30pm GMT. Live coverage of the game will be available on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 1 HD.

Overview

Tottenham come into the game having earned a hard fought point against Manchester United after holding the Red Devils to a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino will be disheartened at not having got anything more from the game, with his side creating some clear cut opportunities through which they could have hurt the 20-times Champions.

The stalemate means that Tottenham are currently two points behind Arsenal and Southampton, who play each other on New Year's Day. With either of the two clubs likely to drop points and West Ham still in the hunt for a top four spot, a win here will be a major boost for the Spurs in their quest to secure a top four berth.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will be favourites coming into the game, having beaten their London rivals comprehensively at home only a month back. The 3-0 scoreline at Stamford Bridge is a reminder of the gulf between the two teams and Mauricio Pochettino has to think of a different route to stifle Chelsea and get the best out of his players.

Jose Mourinho will be looking for a strong performance from his team, having dropped two crucial points in the title race against Southampton. A win here will keep the pressure on City, who will go level on points with Chelsea should they beat Sunderland in an early kick-off.

What Managers Say

Mauricio Pochettino: "They know what they need to do. We need to try to change our record against Chelsea. We need to believe. We are in a different momentum to a month ago. We have grown and learned from that game in our organisation and mentality and physical condition. Every game is different, we started very well at Chelsea and we had chances in the first 20 minutes. We didn't score and, after we conceded, we lost the game."

Jose Mourinho: "Everybody starts with the same points and if we have one more point than them, we did well. We are top of the league at the end of the first round because we deserve it and because it is a consequence of what we did. We've been playing very well since the beginning of the season. That's the only thing we work at, the only thing we concentrate on. And in the second part of the season we are going to try to do exactly the same thing."
