Arsenal have allowed two players to depart the club on loan during the final stages of transfer deadline day, with Mathieu Debuchy joining Bordeaux until the end of the season. Compatriot Yaya Sanogo, meanwhile, has been recalled from a similar spell at Ajax in order to complete a move to Championship strugglers Charlton Athletic.

Debuchy's exit is far from a surprise. The former Newcastle right-back quickly lost his starting place during an injury-plagued first season at the Emirates Stadium that saw him sidelined for several months following ankle ligament surgery. He later endured a second lengthy spell out with a dislocated shoulder suffered against Stoke and has made just seven appearances across all competitions so far this term as understudy to the impressive Hector Bellerin.

Aston Villa and Sunderland were both previously credited with an interest in the player, but Bordeaux emerged as favourites for his signature in the final hours of the window. Debuchy will hope that increased exposure to first-team football will help him win back his place in Didier Deschamps' senior France squad ahead of the European Championship this summer.

"Mathieu Debuchy has joined Ligue 1 club Bordeaux on loan for the rest of the season," Arsenal confirmed in an official statement. "The 30-year-old right back has featured seven times for the Gunners this term. He has made a total of 22 appearances for Arsène Wenger since arriving from Newcastle United in July 2014.

"A France international, Debuchy returns to his homeland for the opportunity of regular football ahead of Euro 2016 this summer. Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mathieu well for his time with the Girondins. The move is subject to the completion of regulatory processes."

Sanogo will also be hoping that his latest move will lead to more regular opportunities. The 23-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Auxerre on a free transfer in 2013 and is most noted for his four-goal haul against Benfica in an Emirates Cup match, largely failed to impress at Crystal Palace last season and has featured just four times for Ajax in 2015/16.

"Charlton are delighted to confirm the deadline-day signing of Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo on loan until the of the season," the Addicks, who have also brought in Rod Fanni from Al-Arabi as they seek to haul themselves out of the relegation zone, announced on 1 February.

"The 23-year-old, who has been with the Gunners since 2013, is an FA Cup winner and has played in both the Premier League and the Champions League."

The move has also been confirmed by Arsenal.
