Age Of Extinction became a massive success for Paramount Pictures but the storyline was slammed by critics. This has prompted the studio to hire a group of writers led by Akiva Goldsman to craft the compact story that would narrate Optimus's journey flawlessly. Hence, the pressure is high on both Bay and Goldsman to deliver up to expectations.

Mark Wahlberg will return to reprise his role of the struggling inventor Cade Yeager. Isabela Moner is also joining the cast and Coming soon reported that she will play the female lead in the movie inspired by the toys and comics made by Hasbro. The 14-year-old Nickelodeon television star previously mentioned her addition to the cast.

The plot of The Last Night has been kept under wraps but Goldsman has hinted at taking inspiration from Hasbro toys, merchandise, TV shows and comics for framing the story of the leader of the Autobots.

In The Age Of Extinction, Optimus Prime headed towards outer space in order to find the Creators and settle scores with them. But before leaving, he asked the Autobots to protect Yeager from the Decepticons.

The movie that has Steven Spielberg as the executive producer is expected to premiere in 2017.
