True Detective season 2 will premiere this month and actor Vince Vaughn has teased that the upcoming HBO hit show will be a whole new story.

"It's a crime story that takes place in Los Angeles and it's a whole new story," Vaughn told Ellen DeGeneres in her show.

The 45-year-old actor praised the show creator and hinted that the characters this time will be very complicated.

"The writer and creator of [the show] is just tremendous, Nick Pizzolatto, and he's the writer of this one as well, and it's been a lot of fun. The characters are very interesting, very complicated."

Rachel McAdams, who plays detective Ani Bezzerides in the HBO crime drama, promises that the next series will offer fans just what they're looking for.

"There is a lot of plot development, and different webs to follow. I hope people like it, I loved doing it," McAdams told Belfast Telegraph.

According to the leaked plot synopsis, Colin Farrell's character Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective will join detective Ani to solve a murder mystery.

Ben Caspar, a corrupt city manager of a fictional California city was brutally murdered. His body was found on a lonely stretch of Pacific Coast Highway near Big Sur - satanic symbols etched on his chest.

But soon Ray and Ani discover that there are much broader and darker implications to the investigation than they anticipated.

The detective duo will find out that the murdered victim had a penchant for rough sex and may have been involved in the occult.

Farrell hints that after episode 3 of the second season, fans will be hooked to the series for its powerful story line.

"That's the great thing about the show," Farrell told Glamour Magazine. "By episode three, you don't give a fuck who killed who. It's just a hook, a canvas, for everything else."
