Britain has experienced the first cold snap of the winter season, with parts of the country seeing widespread frost. Weather forecasters are predicting that temperatures will drop as low as minus five degrees Celsius this week.

Motorists are being warned to beware of fog, leading to poor visibility in south and central England and Wales.
