A group of university rowers were attacked by giant flying fish in a lake in Missouri's St. Louis on 10 April, a video making the waves of social media showed.

The Washington University in St.Louis students were rowing along Creve Coeur Lake when giant Asian carp began jumping frantically in the water surrounding them.

The students were forced to stop rowing until the frenzy ended.

The viral spread couldn't come at a better time for the university crew, who said they hoped to raise funds from the video to help pay for their trip to the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championships taking place in Florida in May.
