A man in a motorised wheelchair fell over the edge of a subway platform in Washington on 21 April, but was rescued by two commuters – and, fortunately, before a train approached the station.

The man slid off the platform of the U Street-Cardozo station, a few miles from the White House. One man quickly jumped on the tracks to assist the fallen man and, when it was apparent that he could not lift him without help, a second man followed.

The man in the wheelchair was taken to the hospital with a bloodied face, but was otherwise not seriously injured.
