World No 3 Roger Federer will take on Marin Cilic in the semifinal of the 2014 US Open Men's Singles clash at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday.

Overview

Federer's quarter final clash is one of the best matches of the ongoing competition. The Swiss ace had to fight against Gael Monfils to register a brilliant victory over the Frenchman in the last eight of the US Open.

The former World No 1 lost the opening two sets as Monfils needed to win one more set. However, Federer bounced back and went on to win the remaining three sets to win the clash in a five set thriller.

Federer won the match 4-6, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 and sealed a place in the semi final of the US Open on Saturday. He would be hoping to win this clash and make it into the second consecutive Grand Slam final. He made it to the finals of the 2014 Wimbledon, only to lose to Novak Djokovic.

Meanwhile, Cilic had no trouble in sealing a place in the last four of the US Open. The Czech Republican tennis star defeated Tomas Berdych in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 to make it to the semifinals on Saturday.

A victory for either Cilic or Federer will see them face the winners of the first semifinal clash between World No 1 Djokovic and Kei Nishikori.
