Syrian airstrikes
Ruins smoulder after the Syrian regime airstrikes Zaid al-Fares

A warplane has crashed in Syria's Raqqa province, which is currently controlled by Isis fighters.

The cause of the crash and identity of the plane are unconfirmed, reports Reuters, citing a monitoring group.

In recent months, the Isis stronghold in Raqqa has come under heavy bombardment from both the Syrian air force and warplanes from the US led coalition.

On twitter, there are reports that the plane was a coalition jet, and that Isis have seized the Jordanian pilot, who survived the crash.
