Wimbledon Day 9 - Order of play
All of the men's top four seeds will be in action on Day 9 of Wimbledon, with defending champion Rafael Nadal on course to meet Britain's Andy Murray in the semi-finals after he was passed fit to play the American Mardy Fish in today's quarter-final.
Nadal, who saw off the challenge of Juan Martin del Potro in the last 16, is set to continue in this year's championships after a MRI scan on his injured foot showed no serious damage. Fish, the tournament's 10th seed, will make his first appearance in a Wimbledon quarter-final when he meets the Spaniard in the first match on Court No.1 this afternoon.
The winner will meet either Feliciano Lopez of Spain or Britain's Andy Murray in Friday's semi-final. Fourth seed Murray cruised into the last eight in a little under two hours with a straight sets victory over the erratic Frenchman Richard Gasquet on Monday.
He told BBC Sport, "My last match was good and it's important I maintain that level. I need to return better in the early part of the match, but I'm happy with the way I'm serving and I've got to keep that up.
Lopez, 29, beat eighth seed Andy Roddick in the third round and will make his third appearance in a Wimbledon quarter-final having reached the last eight in 2005 and 2008.
"Lopez is a tough player and he's been playing really well. He's got a good game for grass and has
a big serve," Murray said.
In the other half of the draw, number three seed Roger Federer continues his bid for a seventh championship title when he plays Jo-Wilfred Tsonga of France, while Novak Djokovic plays 18-year-old qualifier Bernard Tomic of Australia. The teenager is the youngest man to reach this stage of the tournament since Boris Becker in 1986.
